Hi, this is Chuck Roulet from Roulet Law Firm, and I want to personally thank you for choosing our firm to help you protect your home, your life savings, and your family.
It was truly a pleasure meeting with you and learning about your unique goals. I'm excited to get to work on creating a comprehensive plan that will achieve everything we discussed together.
I know choosing the right attorney for something this important isn't easy, and I don't take your trust lightly.
What Happens Next: Your Roadmap to Protection
I wanted to take a few minutes to walk you through exactly what happens next, so you know what to expect over the coming weeks. No surprises, just a proven process that's worked for thousands of families.
My Document Drafting Philosophy
Quality Over Quick Fixes
Over the next couple of weeks, I'll be personally drafting your entire estate plan from start to finish. Here's something important about my drafting philosophy: I'd rather give you a longer, more complete document that covers every possible scenario than give you a shorter document and later wish we had planned for that one unusual situation that could come up.
Think of it like building a house – you want a solid foundation that can handle anything life throws at you.
Why Some "Legalese" Is Necessary
While I draft as simply as I can, there is some legal terminology I just can't avoid. It's the nature of legal documents that must hold up in court and with financial institutions.
That's exactly why I don't send you the complete set of documents right away. Instead, I have a much better system that makes everything crystal clear.
What You'll Receive First: Two Important Summaries
Instead of overwhelming you with a stack of legal documents, I'll send you two carefully crafted summaries that make everything easy to understand.
Your Name and Fiduciary Summary
First, you'll receive a Name and Fiduciary Summary that confirms all of your important information:
- Your personal details
- Information about your children
- Details about all of your key decision makers
This is critical: I need you to review this very carefully. Check the spelling of names, verify dates of birth, and most importantly, confirm that all of your decision makers are exactly who you want them to be.
Why does this matter? Because once your documents are signed, these are the people who will step in to help your family when you can't. Getting this right is everything.
Your Plain Language Summary
Second, I'll send you what I call a "plain language" summary of your trust and/or will. Depending on how complex your particular plan is, this will be a 5 to 7 page document that provides a clear overview of exactly how your will or trust works – written in terms you can easily understand.
No confusing legal jargon. Just straight talk about how your plan protects your family.
Your Review Process: Please Review Carefully
No Rush, No Pressure
Once you've received both summaries, please take your time reviewing them thoroughly. Read them with your spouse. Ask yourself if everything makes sense.
Here's the good news: 99.9% of the time, everything looks perfect to our clients. But if you have any questions or concerns, we'll address them right away.
Ready for the Next Step?
If everything looks good to you after your review, simply contact our office to schedule your pre-signing meeting. We'll take care of all the details.
Your Pre-Signing Meeting: Understanding Every Detail
Convenient Zoom Review
Your pre-signing meeting will be conducted over Zoom for your convenience – no need to drive to our office just for a review.
Section-by-Section Walkthrough
During this meeting, I'll put your actual documents on the screen and walk through them with you section by section. I'll explain, in everyday language, what every provision is for, what it's doing, and why it's there.
This is your opportunity to ask any questions you have and to make sure you completely understand how your plan works. After all, this is your family's protection we're talking about.
Document Signing: Making It Official
Simple Logistics
After our review meeting, we'll schedule a time for you to come into our office – either here in Minnesota or in Florida – to sign your documents.
Don't worry about bringing witnesses or finding a notary. We'll have everything arranged and ready for you. Just show up, and we'll handle the rest.
Your Estate Planning Owner's Manual: Something Special
What Sets Us Apart
Here's something I'm particularly proud of that sets us apart from other law firms. After your documents are signed, we don't just hand you a folder and send you on your way.
Instead, we take your originals and carefully scan them. We then organize your original documents in what we call an Estate Planning Owner's Manual, where everything is properly tabbed and organized for easy reference.
Digital Copies for Modern Life
But we don't stop there. We also put digital copies of all of your scanned documents on a USB flash drive, which we include right in your Estate Planning Owner's Manual.
This means you'll have:
- Your signed originals beautifully organized and protected
- Digital copies of everything stored safely
- Easy access to provide copies to financial institutions
- Simple sharing with family members when appropriate
Think of it as your complete estate planning toolkit, ready for whatever life brings.
